Meditation
I have been meditating for over twenty years. I started meditating naturally, without reading any books, and this was before the internet as well. The meditation that I do, is my own, but it has things in common with some other meditations. I listen to my breath, that is the same, and also reducing thoughts, and observing thoughts as well, is similar to other meditations. The meditation that I do is good for mindfulness, reducing stress, anxiety, helping you get to sleep, calming your nerves, relaxation, and I believe that my meditation is also healing. I believe that my meditation will give you a deeper connection to your inner being, to your physical body and to the universe.
My meditation is natural. I believe that meditation is a state that your brain naturally goes into. It is not difficult. It is natural. The mediation which I do, can be learnt, if you learn it you will realise that it comes naturally to you, and that you are able to develop meditating and go deeper into meditation easier and easier.
There are many type of meditation, and some of them will be simply relaxing, and relaxation is good for you. But the meditation which I do, is much more than relaxing.
You don’t need to sit cross legged, or on the floor, and you don’t need to sit with your back straight either. These are some of the things that some meditations will insist that you need to do. None of this is necessary. You can sit and be comfortable when you meditate. On a settee, or comfy chair, or any seat where you can safety close your eyes. You can do this meditation lying down as well, but that is only recommended if you are wanting to go to sleep because the aim usually is to stay awake, and the difficulty is that if you lie down an
d meditate, you may drop asleep.
You can meditate anywhere that you can safely close your eyes. I have meditated on trains, in parks, in my living room, on benches in town centres and also I once meditated in a butterfly sanctuary. One time I was meditating on a bench in Dewsbury, and when I opened my eyes as I was doing periodically. A gentleman sat not far away, said to me, ‘You are somewhere else.’ He could see that I was not simply closing my eyes, he could see that I was doing more than closing my eyes.
There is also the misunderstanding that you need to find a quiet place to meditate. This isn’t true. You can meditate when there is a noisy environment around you. My meditation creates a space around you, and within you. The noises from your environment will dissipate.
People think that they can’t meditate for one reason or another. Perhaps they worry that they think too much, and that this will prevent them from meditating. Or perhaps they worry that they can’t sit still, or too much anxiety stops them. My meditation can be learnt by anyone. You don’t need to stop thinking all the time when you meditate. You can find spaces between your thoughts. Also I can give you tips on how to meditate which will be to suit your needs.
