Bloch Healing in Cheshire & Manchester
The word power, when used to describe the nature of interpersonal relationships, has been defined as “the possession of control or command over others”. However, when the purpose of the exercise of power is to assist with the development of another person, in their ability to think and to act in their own best interests and that of others, then this is the very opposite of the type of power that is required.
Health is predicated upon the ability of a person to access their own thoughts and values, free from the interference of others. The real goal of any therapy is the growth within the Client of a genuine autonomy, so that they may live their own life in their own way. It is fundamental to any method of Healing that it is liberating, and all of the power of the Healer to help a Client is dependent upon their desire always to set another free.
Healing occurs when a person is able freely and fully to enter into a Meeting with another person. Therefore the power of a Healer depends primarily upon the extent to which they are able to offer a Meeting to their Client, recognising in their Client a complete and independent person, who is also connected and interdependent.
Health depends upon the secure confidence to trust oneself and others, the essential foundation of intimacy. Healing occurs when trust is restored; hence the power of a Healer depends upon their worthiness of trust, and on their ability to trust their Client. And these qualities depend, in turn, upon the Healer’s clarity of perception of their own nature, and on their ability to enter into relation with another person as a separate, yet interdependent individual.
A therapist is in a position of remarkable power in relation to their client, most especially if the client is in great need. All situations in life where one person is dependent upon another for help are a sacred trust, whether it is as parent, therapist or teacher. The power of a Healer to assist their Client is in direct proportion to their ability to respond to the vulnerability of their Client with sensitivity and empathy.
The task of a Healer is limited to working as a catalyst for changes within the Client, so it is particularly important that the Healer always trust that the Client will be able to repair themselves in their own way, and in their own time, when given the opportunity. It is because of this that the power of a Healer to help a Client depends upon the understanding that they cannot do anything to assist their Client with this work, except to endeavour to provide the best possible conditions in which the Healing of this Client may occur.
All therapeutic methods have a theory upon which their practice depends. However, Health depends upon a Client arriving at their own philosophy for living, because that is the only philosophy that will be of real benefit to them. It is for this reason that the power of a Healer depends upon the understanding that therapeutic models, no matter how robust, are working theories for the guidance of the Healer, and not certain truth.
The work of a Healer is a remarkable privilege, as an agent in the development of another. The Client should know that, when they take the hand offered to them by the Healer, it is not only they who are Healed, but the Healer also. There is no outstanding debt owed to the Healer and, apart from the payment of a previously agreed fee for the Healer’s professional skills, there is nothing that the Healer will ever want or require of them within or without the therapeutic session.
