Five Ways to Find Inner Peace in This Time of Turmoil

To find inner peace should be the top goal on everyone's list. It's the only way to experience true lasting happiness and love. The five-step process below shows you how to tip the scales from depression to happiness. This is how I found joy and peace I did not think was possible.
These steps are an effective way to change negative situations into opportunities for personal growth. The key is to release negativity as it comes, rather than ignore it or sweep it under the rug.
My former tactic was to “smooth” something over. I had great teachers or mirrors. My mother was always trying to “fix” things by diverting or distracting my father when he’d get upset. Life has given me lots of opportunities to practice my commitment to myself. Now, when negativity arises I go within and ask, “What is this trying to teach me about myself?” If it triggers me...it's mine.
Many people are questioning where the world is heading socially, economically and environmentally. The Maya, the Hopis, and the Egyptians have predicted great changes in 2012. Could they possibly be right? We’re in uncharted waters. World changes are forcing EVERYONE to rethink their beliefs, values and to find inner peace in whatever way they can.
We all know there has to be a better way. To change our lives from surviving to truly living IS in our hands. The solution unfolds when we stop looking outside of us for the answers to our problems. To find inner peace we must look within.
This method to find inner peace is straightforward and effective. But don't be fooled. There’s power in simplicity.
So what’s the key to finding a happier more fulfilled life? There’s only one way...find inner peace. Everything else is just temporary. You have to eliminate the old memories or tapes that are stopping the flow of inspiration from the Divine. Yes, old memories get in the way of your happiness and peace.
For those who don’t believe in God, I understand. Substitute whatever you like in place of the word God. There’s universe, Mother Nature, higher power… even yourself. It doesn’t matter. It’s all the same.
STEP ONE: Take Control of Your Life. When You Play the Victim it Does Not Serve You.
Victims give their control to someone else…the person who caused them pain. They stay a victim and unhappy too till they decide to release that mindset. Taking control of your life means not allowing old negative memories or the opinions of others to shape your future.
All your decisions are filtered through past memories first, making it impossible to find inner peace if you allow old bad memories to sabotage you. The purpose of these memories is to keep you “safe.” If you don’t venture “out of the box,” if you stay in your comfort zone, you’ll be safe. Hmmmm, what if you don’t like your life?
When I TRUSTED spiritual inspiration, I experienced tremendous personal growth, and came from a space of love. With this realization I worked hard to consciously follow my heart. I’m not saying I haven’t stepped backward because I have and often. Old habits die hard. But now I catch myself early on and correct it. The process to find inner peace is ongoing. But, each time I chip away a layer, more happiness comes in to replace that negativity. I am not a victim of circumstance without any control.
Here’s an example. In my late thirties I found out I had been sexually abused from the age of four during a counseling session. This was after another failed marriage. Huge memory blocks in my childhood and an incident when I was 14 uncovered the full extent of this abuse. I had blocked this abuse by my Grandfather from my memory. The negativity from these acts had affected my relationship decisions all my life. It was time to make a choice to stay bitter or forgive. I decided to forgive and stop sabotaging my relationships. When I unconditional forgave my since passed away Grandfather, a big empty spot opened up in my heart, and was flooded with happiness and peace. If I had stayed bitter, I would have been only hurting myself.
“Eventually everyone begins to recognize, however dimly, that there must be a better way. As this recognition becomes more firmly established, it becomes a turning-point. This ultimately reawakens spiritual vision, simultaneously weakening the investment in physical sight.” (taking everything we see as truth) A Course in Miracles
When you take control of your life, the power is in your hands to change your life experience for the better. You are now on the road to find inner peace.
STEP TWO: Take TOTAL Responsibility For EVERYTHING That Happens in Your Life
When you take total responsibility for your life, you are in control...not the person who hurt you. It’s a very empowering feeling. It moves you out of victim mode and puts you into creation mode. The opportunity shines through every negative situation or thought. You realize you are the master of your life and now have the power to change your experiences.
“The purpose of life is to be restored back to Love, moment to moment. To fulfill this purpose, the individual must acknowledge that he is 100 percent responsible for creating his life the way it is. He must come to see that it is HIS thoughts that create his life the way it is moment to moment. The problems are not people, places and situations but rather the thoughts of them. He must come to appreciate that there is no such thing as “out there.” Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len
Every negative thing in my life was there to teach me something about myself and what I had to work on to be a better, happier person. I realized that it wouldn’t be in my life unless I had done it too at some point in my souls journey. It was my responsibility to heal it. Conscious healing helps you find inner peace.
"All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much fault you find with another, and regardless of how much you blame him, it will not change you." Wayne Dyer
Own all negative events and actions.
STEP THREE: What Similar Thing Have You Done or Thought That Triggered a Negative Reaction in Another?
All thoughts and actions go in a circle and come back to you. It’s the universal law. What you wish on another becomes YOUR reality. Know if something negative is in your life it belongs to you. Yes, you did it or thought it about someone else on your souls journey. The culprit is not the other person it’s your own negative thoughts, actions and memories. They come back to be YOUR life experience not theirs. These thoughts make it impossible for you to find inner peace...till you release them.
It changed my life when I realized that others were just mirroring things I needed to work on within myself back at me.
If you're completely honest with yourself, you should get some inklings of what you did to cause the negativity that’s happening to you, now perpetrated by someone else. Be open to what comes…it’s the key to your healing.
Remember, this is for YOU...to find inner peace within. You don't have to tell anyone or apologize.
If you can’t figure out what it was, don’t sweat it. Just know that it couldn’t be in your life if you didn’t do it or think it yourself. It’s not important that you remember the details. Ask yourself what you felt about the act from the other person against you, (Eg. abandoned, they were a know-it-all, violated, etc.) So how have you instilled these negative feelings in others through your negative actions or thoughts?
I want to make this clear. There’s little difference between actually doing something in the physical and just thinking it. It’s a scary thought, but also empowering. A thought is just an unmanifested action…with similar effects. Guard your thoughts. Recognize your contribution to negative acts or words that appear in your life, and use this information to find inner peace.
A thought never leaves its source. It just circles around and comes back. No matter how horrible the acts against me by another person, I have to realize I did it or thought it myself at some point in my souls life. It could not happen to me otherwise.
"A sign of wisdom and maturity is when you come to terms with the realization that your decisions cause your rewards and consequences. You are responsible for your life, and your ultimate success depends on the choices you make." Denis Waitley
STEP FOUR: Forgive Yourself and Others. Silently THANK Those Who Have Done You Wrong.
YES…I’m serious!
“When I am able to resist the temptation to judge others, I can see them as teachers of forgiveness in my life, reminding me that I can only have peace of mind when I forgive rather than judge.” Gerald Jampolsky
This is not about them. It’s about you and your happiness. Do it for you. It's the KEY to find inner peace. True forgiveness is the only way to stop negative tapes in your memory from replaying. It's YOU you're forgiving, for doing it at some point yourself.
Instead of being angry or upset by a negative event, I was grateful for the opportunity to heal it. I looked at every outburst, every negative act as a personal growth lesson and a chance to find inner peace from that trigger.
“You don’t say, “Please forgive me” to the Divine because the Divine needs to hear it, you say it because YOU need to hear it.” Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len
Forgiveness is the most powerful tool at your disposal. But, it has to be UNCONDITIONAL. FORGIVENESS IS taking back control of your life. Negative acts against you point to where you need to forgive yourself.
"To forgive is merely to remember only the loving thoughts you gave in the past, and those that were given you. All the rest must be forgotten. No longer does the past conflict with now." A Course in Miracles
You can take forgiveness a step further. Dr. Hew Len recommends you picture the other person in your minds eye, than say, "I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you." Over and over again till you feel true forgiveness. This is called Ho’oponopono, an ancient Hawaiian method of making things right. Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len and Dr. Joe Vitale have brought this amazing method to the forefront.
“He who is devoid of the power to forgive, is devoid of the power to love.” Martin Luther King, Jr.
Instead of cursing, thank the person who shows you your own negative actions or thoughts.
STEP FIVE: Make a Conscious Decision to Diligently Stop Creating More Negativity in Your Life.
Guard your thoughts and actions. Now that you know what causes your turmoil, why add to it? No matter how angry something would have made you in the past, release it immediately through the power of forgiveness, or the Violet Transmuting Flame of Forgiveness. No matter how justified you feel...you hurt only yourself. Another persons act against you is a gift…not an affront. If they didn’t show you your short comings, you wouldn’t know what you need to let go to find inner peace.
"If we don't discipline ourselves, the world will do it for us." William Feather
Negative things will happen in your life it’s a fact. But the effects can be greatly reduced or eliminated if you don’t fight them. We all have negative memories to release. The only way is through true forgiveness.
If you project a new positive uplifting life story you WILL be on the road to finding your True Self. Your spirit or True Self is void of bad memories. If you send love, only love can come back to you when the circle completes itself. But, make sure it's unconditional love.
"Rule your mind or it will rule you." Horace
If you don’t find inner peace you have nothing. I don't care how magnificent the material treasures you possess. To find inner peace is the key to good health and a rewarding happy life.
Conclusion:
Happiness is not what you do or what you have…it’s what you are. Happiness and peace is what’s left when you eliminate negative memories, thoughts and actions.
Your soul is begging for you to find inner peace. If you do this work you WILL feel younger, healthier, energized and happier. The weight of negativity will begin to release from your body.
When you find inner peace it brings good things into our lives. We all have negativity stored in our chakras. This negativity is holding us back. Negativity stored in the bodies energy centers is not only the root cause of illness, it hides our true essence, which is love, peace and joy.
We can create anything we want in your lives. Why not create love.
God doesn’t care what you did in the past. God just wants you to release the negativity from your mind so you can find inner peace underneath. The road to find inner peace is through elimination. Then you will know the perfection and beauty of your pure spirit just as God created you.
The processes to find inner peace is paramount to the next step…spiritual grow. Negativity held in the body stops positive things from coming into your life, including a higher level of consciousness.
At no other time in recorded history is it as important to clear negative baggage in our minds than now.
“Western civilization is now confronting its own shadow in the form of global pollution, institutionalized corporate greed, and political instability. Fortunately, social upheavals and changes in the last thirty years indicate that we already appear to be moving in a direction that celebrates co-creation, relationships and working together rather than violence, conquest and force.” John Major Jenkins
We are ALL being asked to clean our mental houses of what doesn’t work anymore. This is the only way to truly find inner peace. We can’t keep thoughts of hate, anger, jealousy, greed, self-centeredness, lack, or anything else negative going into 2012. They don’t mirror the values of next age of “love, unity, brotherhood and integrity.”
The Great Cycle change predicted by the Maya, and the coming Age of Aquarius foretold by the Egyptians, are just a few short years away. The values of the next age are already happening through the cleansing and elimination of what doesn’t work in our lives any more. If the Maya are correct with their predictions of a rise in spiritual consciousness in 2012, you’ll be ready. If they’re not, you will have attained something few have known...you will have found inner peace.
It's all good.
